BD has been around for over half a century. It was founded in a nightclub in 1972 by a bunch of young architects and designers from Barcelona. They broke into the design world with a new vision: to produce and market their designs, and their friends’ designs with complete creative freedom and design criteria. 50 years later, we are still an independent design company, now run by a new collective ownership —Apartamento Magazine, Ricardo

Bofill Taller de Arquitectura, Igor Urdampilleta from Arquitectura-G, and Hernan Cortés— all architects, publishers and designers. Along with one of the founders, Oscar Tusquets, this group fosters the same nonconformist spirit BD has had since its beginnings. This year, we have shifted the brand with a redesign to bring the BD history into the future. We are reintroducing the original logo, presenting new collections, and expanding our dialogue across diverse realms of creativity. BD will continue to promote progress in design, maintaining our heritage and enriching spaces with the same distinctive energy and way of seeing that it had in the beginning. We want to continue expressing the diversity of the world and its values. In design and in everything we do.
